Alnmouth (Foxton) Golf Club, established 1869 the 4th oldest golf club in England, celebrating its 150th Anniversary in 2019 are delighted to announce the appointment of a new General Manager, Daniel Harrison.

Daniel will took up his new role full time in February 2020 and is familiar with the club and course already having a large network with key members of staff, committee and members and is looking forward to introducing himself to everyone in the next coming weeks.
Daniel takes over from current General Manager, Peter Simpson who has been in this role since 2009.
Speaking about his appointment, Daniel said “I am delighted to be taking up this new role at Alnmouth (Foxton) Golf Club and see this as a great opportunity for me to develop my skills and experience at such a prestigious club. One thing which excites me about this position is assisting the club in delivering the ten year course development plan which includes working with renowned course architects Swan Golf Designs and also Robin Hume Associates Ltd in regards to installation of a £200k replacement irrigation system. CMAE England’s latest seminar entitled ‘Finance for non-financial managers’ took place last week consecutively in Liverpool and London.

The seminar, led by Debra Adams, aimed to develop commercial awareness and to facilitate delegates’ understanding of the key financial competences required to manage a club successfully, such as forecasting and cost control.

Attending the seminar was Sunningdale Golf Club’s Director of Golf Christian Foreman. “I would recommend attending The Finance for Non Finance Managers Course for any club manager or prospective manager as it highlights the key financial competences required to manage a business effectively. By attending the course I feel like I am now able to understand financial reports far more easily and have an improved awareness on forecasting and cost control”. Debra Adams is the founder of the business, a leading practitioner in developing courses for improving financial know how and commercial acumen. She is the author of the highly acclaimed textbook ‘Strategic Management Accounting for the Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure Industries’, been the Head of Professional Development at HOSPA for over 10 years and was awarded the HOSPA Paragon Award in 2014 for her commitment to financial and revenue management education.

The seminar is the second to be completed within the 2020 CMAE England event calendar which is now encompassing both the southern and northern regions.

CMAE member Steve Stiller CMDip has been appointed General Manager of East Brighton Golf Club.

Stiller has worked in the golf industry for over 15 years having started as a Golf Administrator for the Burhill Golf & Leisure Group in 2004. He then enrolled onto the Professional Golfers Association Programme and worked his way up to Head PGA Professional within 6 years. The past 7 years he has worked at Farleigh Golf Club, part of the Foxhills Collection as Head PGA Professional before later being appointed Golf Manager.

Keen to progress even further in his club management career, Steve joined the CMAE and within 12 months he had attended the MDP 1 and 2 courses and gained his Club Management Diploma (CMDip). Steve now joins East Brighton Golf Club located on the South Coast as their General Manager.
Speaking on his new role Steve said “I am excited and privileged to be joining the team at East Brighton Golf Club and can’t wait to get started. The knowledge gained from the CMAE pathway has been a contributing factor in progressing my career.
